NCOT Courseware
2004 - 2006
This was an internal application that was used to teach members of the navy the basics of operating various pieces of equipment aboard the fleet of Victoria Class submarines. The focus of my job wasn't to give the site a new look, but rather to clean up existing pages, enhance readability, and create four template pages for new lessons. The site had to operate on an old version of the Unix platform, so colour choices were extremely limited.
Because there was so much courseware content to be formatted, a coworker designed a system to automate the process of producing the HTML pages using the templates that I designed. The content was saved in plain text and marked up using XML tags. These documents were then run though a script to produce the HTML pages, which I would then edit to add images, JavaScript events, etc., to complete the lessons.
